Sounds of the Asmat was developed by the American Museum of Asmat Art (AMAA) for the Brady Educational Center to build upon themes of instrumental musicianship, world music, and cross-cultural engagement with the arts. Each case is intended to highlight the artistic design process of an instrument and how it informs the sound. Both drums and horns are deeply involved in the rituals and ceremonies of the Asmat, making this exhibit an example of the integral place of music within culture.

This exhibition was curated by Art History graduate assistants for the AMAA Taylor Menendez and Molly McIntosh.
